Hurricane Irene & week 2 in the city ;)

I have been in NYC for almost 2 weeks now...actually the 2 week marker is today! I have literally been running around (more walking he he) and getting to know the city. At first I wasn't sure if this was the right move (no pun intended)... but after 2-3 days of sadness and self pity I got out of the house & ventured. As you can see from the pics in the blog,I put myself out there and in return made friends, went to some awesome hoop jams, saw some awesome art and went around a lot of the city. The subways some days are scary but only because I am not used to them. They really are pretty safe and you just have to be aware of your surroundings. The village where Jamielynn lives is very young. It is a lot of college kids and people who want to have a good time. I can't wait to start having an income again because I really want to go SHOPPING!! There are literally hundreds beyond hundreds of stores and I have put blinders on because savings is not for clothes & considering I have like 10 boxes in storage.... I probably should not be buying clothes lol. Anyways, yes so I am here 2 weeks and I got a job & I started training last Thursday... I end Tuesday... so hopefully I will be on the floor Wednesday & Thursday and then Friday its back to Florida!! I started school Friday and will return Monday... I really like the school, very hands on for a hospitality major like myself. Lastly, I am still dealing with insurance crap with my car... but hey as an adult you just deal with it and move on.... Well, the that's all folks.... living <3ing NYC ;)

ps. Irene is ok right now, it downgraded to a TS... hoping life will be back in order later tonight.
Random carnival inside of Central Park.. lucky kids ;)

Top photo is what they call skater's row.... people come out & skate and they have an awesome dj that plays as well. This is where we hooped ;) Below is the John Lennon imagine in CP

Washington Square Park, in Noho. Above is the Park, below is the fountain and last one is me sitting by the foutain in the center of the Park

Apple store in Lincoln sq.
From my favorite show gossip girl <3 Hotel Empire
Times Square

My favorite part about going somewhere is that on the way you find other things. I was on my way to Central Park when I found this garden tucked between 89th & 90th... So beautiful!

On my way to Sip which is in Morningside Heights (110th & Amsterdam), which a cool, small hipster bar. I walked passed the man below drawing that photo. I thought it was just so neat that this guy was doing this & its amazing!! It lasts for 2 -3 years and take 2-3 days to do.

At Le Pain Quotidien. Love this little cafe... below is my delicious waffle and what a gorgeous presentation!! Above is arts & crafts and this is generally what I do when I go there.

I love the flower stands that are everywhere!! Makes me happy ;)

The museum of Modern art, I liked the one with all the notes in it. It is called Wish and it had a bunch of people's wishes. The hay is a representation of the needle in a haystack and the world around us. It had one needle in it & it was wrapped with 18k thread.

These pics are taken on my walk through Central Park, after I hooped in the Great Lawn ;)

I am in between two parks, Central Park & Riverside Park. This is Riverside Park.

The first picture is my apartment building. The second is me walking down the street. I was walking back to my apt. from Home Goods.

This is across the street from my house. It's called Le pain Quotidien. It is absolutely delicious. Awesome coffee, pastries and delicious organic dishes such as the one above, which is a Zucchini and goat cheese frittata... delish mmm

This is an awesome building near my apartment in the UWS(Upper West Side). The foliage is absolutely beautiful!

This is after I added a few things to my room; Flowers ;), picture frames & Nic nac's to add a little personality considering I have a giant moon on my wall!

The Moon Room ;) Need I say more? This is before I moved in.

My first day back in the city, which I reached by ferry via NY waterway. The day was spent venturing to my new school City Tech & my new residence which is in Manhattan. The room I will be living in is called the "Moon Room"... you'll understand that when I post the pics of it. My neighborhood is very charming, I am in between two parks. One of them is Central Park & the other is Riverside Park, which overlooks the Hudson River. When you walk around the neighborhood it has almost a carr-ish vibe to it... with the apartments with beautiful doors, trees & of course the unforgettable stoops. In this blog I will try & continue to post my journey in the NYC.... hopefully it will be unforgettable... we will see. Until then xoxox L
